Ethos of the Academy
1. Key principles
1.1 The sponsors will place the highest priority on establishing a culture within the Academy of aspiration and success for its members through a shared sense of purpose based on the following key principles:
- A strong focus on self-improvement where everyone – staff and students – aspire to, and continually strive to, improve on their personal performance.
- The promotion of innovation and good practice to raise students’ standards and levels of achievement and levels of attainment.
- An emphasis upon students becoming outstanding, respectful citizens with the highest possible personal, social and life skills for a successful adult-life.
- The full engagement of parents in their children’s learning and where appropriate, pathways and opportunities for their own educational development and leisure - a valued resource for families and the whole community.
- Strong, creative and sensitive leadership and governance which will promote and prioritise individual accountability, self-esteem and high confidence amongst students and staff.
- A strong focus upon student involvement in the decision making and performance of the Academy.
2. Values
2.1 Attending the Academy should be an enjoyable period of personal development, so we have put the needs of staff and students at the heart of our values, to ensure that their experience of Academy life is a great one:

3. Behaviour
3.1 Visitors will notice the high aspirations of students and staff, their pride in their achievements and of belonging to the Academy, their commitment and belief in their ability to transform their opportunities and the strong working partnership between the Academy and its community– students, staff and parents. This will be exemplified in their smart appearance, general sense of well being, strong relationships and in the overall sense of order and purpose permeating the Academy.
3.2 The Academy will be seen to nurture integration, tolerance and community cohesion offering valued facilities and resources for the community. Students will be known to use their talents and strengths to make a strong contribution to the local society. Their pride in the Academy will be exemplified in excellent behaviour and high attendance.
3.3 Staff will demonstrate full commitment and high motivation, developing and maintaining excellent relationships with students, parents, other schools, local agencies and community groups. They will be outstanding role models for students possessing the authority to ensure that all students learn whilst at the same time being positive, open and approachable. They will provide many opportunities for students to develop into fulfilled and active citizens who are able to represent themselves confidently in all aspects of public and private life.
3.4 Students will be:
