Welcome message from the Principal

I am delighted to welcome you to the Bedford Academy website.

The aim of the Academy is to create a centre of excellence at the heart of the community that provides outstanding learning opportunities for all.

The final few weeks of preparations are now upon us as we grow ever closer to our opening in September 2010. We have already made several high quality teaching appointments with new teachers in English, Maths, Science, Music, Media, ICT and Humanities and we are now looking to further strengthen our student support team in the remaining few weeks.

Plans for refurbishment of the dining room, creating a new student reception, developing a new 6th form area and an all round smarten up of the existing buildings are well under way and will be completed over the summer holidays. Designs for our brand new buildings are at an exciting point and we are on course for starting the construction in January of next year.

In September, we are looking forward to welcoming all our students and by far our biggest year group will be the new Year 9. With an enormous number of first choices, we are excited that Bedford Academy has been so positively received by parents and families in our catchment area.

I am proud to be leading Bedford Academy and I have very much enjoyed meeting our students, parents and community at every opportunity. I hope to meet many more of you in the next few months and I look forward to sharing our aspirations and determination to make a real difference for our students’ future.

This website sets out the vision for Bedford Academy and I hope it conveys my excitement in leading the school.
